Enriching human life has been a lifelong quest for Dr. Muhammed Majeed. In this aim to bring benefit to mankind, Dr. Majeed proactively used his scientific brilliance and entrepreneurial spirit to start Sami Labs. This company under his dynamic leadership is a growing company that discovers constituents of plants that prevent the ailments that plague the world. Founded in 1991 (originally called Sami Chemicals & Extracts Limited) Sami Labs Limited, Bangalore is a Research and Development facility in the areas of Standardized Herbal Extracts, Cosmeceuticals, Probiotics, Spice Extracts, Minerals, Fine Chemicals, Phytochemicals and Oils used in the nutritional, pharmaceutical and food industry. Dr. Majeed grew up in the fascinating landscape of Kollam, in Kerala. His father, who was in business, passed away when Dr. Majeed was 12. And that was a very bad time around. His mother Fathima, who had not received any formal education, aspired her son Majeed to be highly educated. This fueled his determination to pursue his first love, Science. Dr. Majeed graduated in Pharmacy from the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College in 1973.
Dr. Majeed landed in The United States of America in 1975 with eight dollars in his pocket and a mind full of dreams to fulfill. A fearless man, he was triumphant in everything he did. He went ahead to pursue his Masters in Industrial Pharmacy from Long Island University and became a Junior Scientist at Pfizer. Not satisfied and satiated with his education, he then went on to complete his doctorate in Industrial Pharmacy from St. John’s University. In those years of graduate studies, he would work in the morning at Pfizer and would then spend the rest of the evening pursuing the nitty-gritty of his Ph.D.
A dynamic individual, Dr. Majeed is passionate about his work and feels that even seven days a week is not enough devotion. He is forthright in his views and opinions and believes that honesty is not a policy but a way of life. Extremely candid, he can mesmerize audiences with his simplicity and frankness. At 71, he continues to be energetic and enthusiastic to learn, educate, create and give society the benefits of health. Dr. Majeed Foundation has come up as an endeavor to share a part of his earnings to educate the needy.
